Apartment 22 is the middle flat on the second floor of Blake Tower, on the east side of the building. Its windows face east.

Entering the flat from the lobby in front of the lifts, you are immediately in (what is designated as) the dining area,. You might otherwise call this a large entrance lobby. To the left of this area is the kitchen, with units against the northern wall (the boundary with flat 21). Off the kitchen is the bathroom, which is hardly traditional placing, but perhaps the only choice in the limited options that a former YMCA hostel (which cannot be mucked about too much because it is a listed building as well) provides. In the other direction, past the dining area – ok, let’s agree on ‘dining area’ – you reach the living area. This has very little of its own natural light, but relies on light from the inset windows in the dining area immediately opposite the entrance door. Beyond the living room is the bedroom which has windows facing east.

This flat is almost identical in layout to the flats above. But the flats on the eastern side of Blake House at second floor level are inset several feet from the edge of the building. This particularly affects flats 21 and 23, but also flat 22 to a lesser extent.
