Type 99 is a one-bedroom maisonette with storerooms in Willoughby House. You enter the flat off the building’s central corridor and you take steps up to the living area. The kitchen is a large corner of the living room.

There is a half flight of stairs up to the internal corridor leading to the bedroom. At the top of these stairs is a small ‘store room’ or ante-room leading to the separate WC. Further along the corridor is another ‘store room’ nearly as big as a bedroom. It’s called a ‘store room’ because it doesn’t have windows. So you aren’t meant to use it as living space. Another half flight leads to a landing with the bathroom and bedroom off it.

This flat type combines the features of other types – the layout of a Type 94 flat, the living area size of a Type 90 – but with an additional ‘store room’. The close equivalant to Type 99 at penthouse level is the Type 107 (excepting Type 107’s additional top room).

There are two Type 99 maisonettes in Willoughby House.

The one bedroom maisonettes in Willoughby House – Types 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 98 and 99 – are all very similar. There are slight differences in the positioning of bathrooms and WCs and in living room window size.
