Type 109 is a three floor penthouse maisonette layout in Willoughby House where the flat is entered on the middle floor. The living area is 16’9″ wide, with full-width windows and sliding doors onto the balcony. The kitchen is a large corner of the living room. Steps up take you to a large ‘lounge/study’ as the City originally designated it, but presumably usually a third bedroom. Steps down take you to a bathroom and to a separate WC on the landing, and then to two bedrooms.

There are 11 different types of penthouse maisonette in Willoughby House – far more than in any other house – and most are very similar. They are Types 103, 104, 105, 106, 107, 108, 109, 110, 111, 112 and 115. Types 108-112 are all entered on the middle floor. A similar layout is the Type 110 but with only two bedrooms and without the separate WC.
