Type 95 Barbican Estate flats

Type 95 is a one-bedroom maisonette in Willoughby House. Instead of the standard 16’9″ window frontage, Type 95 flats are narrower with only 13 feet. This is the same as the Type 94 flats, but in this case the WC has followed the bathroom downstairs next to the bedroom. The general idea is still the same. You enter the flat off the building’s central corridor and you take steps down to the living area and down again to the bedroom. The kitchen is a large corner of the living room, but slightly more compact and open to the living room than in other similar types.

Type 95 is very like Type 94, but with even more space removed from the living level and transferred to the bedroom level. Both types involve a slight massaging of the space used for the standard maisonettes. It is a squeezed version of Type 98.

The close equivalant to Type 95 at penthouse level is the Type 106 (excepting Type 106’s additional top room).

There are two Type 95 flats in Willoughby House.

The one bedroom maisonettes in Willoughby House – Types 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 98 and 99 – are all very similar. There are slight differences in the positioning of bathrooms and WCs and in living room window size.
