Type 40 Barbican Estate flats

Type 40 flats have an unusual layout. Most flats in an east-west facing block off a central corridor are wider (along the windows) than they are deep (from window to door) . The Type 40 is deeper than it is wide. There is a living room, a narrow bedroom and a windowless ‘dressing room’ behind that.

Type 40 is unique to Seddon House, which has six (one on each of the six floors). I cannot work out exactly where they are in the block.

Please note. These plans are illustrations and approximations only. They illustrate types of flats as built. They don’t show the actual demise, size, layout or dimensions of any particular flat. Individual flats may differ, or have been altered.
