Type 35 Barbican Estate flats

Type 35 flats are three-bedroom, penthouse duplexes. The lower floor of Type 35 flats is basically rectangular in shape. There’s a bedroom on one side, next to an L-shaped living area, which widens out to take in all the window frontage. The portion in front of the kitchen was designated as a dining area by the Barbican when they designed them. The central part of the living area is double height. Stairs at the back lead to a landing which looks down onto the living area, with a bedroom on one side and a bedroom and a second bathroom on the other side. In addition there’s a roof patio.

They are very similar to Type 36 flats, which are found near them.

There are 9 in Gilbert House, 5 in Mountjoy House and 7 in Seddon House, the east-west-facing terraces.
