Type 23 is a one-bedroom penthouse flat. A Type 23 layout provides one bedroom and a living room (2 rooms) in a simple rectangular-shaped unit. The layout goes from front to back of the building and so it is only found on the top floors of the north-south-facing terraces fronting the lake or the adjoining gardens in the South Barbican.
Type 23 is the most common layout for a penthouse flat in the South Barbican area. There area 18 in Andrewes House, 18 in Defoe House, 12 in Speed House and 16 in Thomas More House.
