Type M3A

Type M3A is a two-bedroom penthouse maisonette in Ben Jonson House and Bunyan Court. The entrance leads to a hall and then to the stairs to the upper level. Beyond is the bathroom and then a bedroom. Going up the stairs, you emerge in the middle of the upper level which takes up the entire width of the building (no corridor). There’s a kitchen in the middle, with a dining room at one end and the living area at the other, looking into the Barbican estate. The stairs go up again to a penthouse study or extra bedroom.

The Type M3A and the Type M3B account for most of the penthouse maisonettes in Ben Jonson House. There are 21 Type M3As on the 5th, 6th and penthouse floors. In Bunyan Court there are 7 M3As. The central corridor is not quite central. On the shallower side is usually a Type F2C studio flat. On the deeper side, is the lower floor of a Type M3A or M3B (which are virtually identical except that the M3B is marginally shorter.
