Type 58

Flat layout

Type 58 is a one-bedroom flat. Type 58 is a slightly smaller version of Type 20, just as Type 57 is of Type 21. In most floors of Defoe House, Andrewes House and Speed House the flats are Type 20 and Type 21, which interlock round the lift and stairs. Every so often along a block there has to be a fire exit corridor right to the front and back balconies. Those take up part of what would be the Type 21 extra bedroom and the Type 20 study. The flats next to such corridors are Types 57 and 58. The Type 58 gets some extra window frontage in the living room but not quite enough to really call the truncated ‘L’ a study. It also has a slightly larger bedroom than a Type 20. So they have 1 bedroom and a living room (2 rooms).

There are 12 in Defoe House, 6 in Andrewes House and 6 in Speed House.
