Galley Suites come in two versions. Galley Suite and Galley Suite Type 2. On most floors, there are four Galley Suite flats grouped together on the West (Milton Street) side of the building. Confusingly, the developers didn’t give these galley suites a type number – just called them ‘Galley Suites’ – although they called the different studio flats on the other side of the building ‘Galley Suite Type 2′. Anyway, I am sticking with the developers’ ‘Galley Suite’ for these ones on the West side of the building, but you could just as well call them ‘Galley Suite Type 1’ if that is clearer for you.
Galley Suites are studio flats or bedsits. The bed folds away to create a dining area. Galley Suites are sometimes reversed in mirror fashion.
Floor 7 Galley Suites only have ‘Juliet balconies’ (essentially no balcony). But all other Galley Suite flats have balconies. There are three possible configurations and sizes: ‘A’, ‘B’, or ‘C’. I have not been able to pin particular balconies to particular flat numbers because the layout varies from floor to floor, but these are the basic balcony types.
- Galley Suite – balcony version ‘A’. This has a centred balcony (floors 8, 9, 11, 12, 14, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 22, 24, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30).
- Galley Suite – balcony version ‘B’. This has a larger balcony which is shifted north and slightly beyond the end wall of the flat (floors 9, 14, 18, 22, 26, 30).
- Galley Suite – balcony version ‘C’. This has a balcony the same size as ‘B’ but shifted south rather than north (floors 10, 15, 19, 23, 27).
There are four adjoining galley suites on every floor from 7 to 30. The image below is an example on floor 15. But it is in the same position on every floor where this flat type appears. This image only shows one Galley Suite, but there are three others next to it as well.
Layout of Galley Suite
This is the layout and room sizes (as provided by the developers) for a Galley Suite.
|Gross internal area||38 m² (408 ft²)|
|Bathroom||The bathroom is just inside the front door. It contains a shower, WC and a basin.|
|Utility area||There is a cupboard for a washer dryer and other equipment you might need, opposite the bathroom, just inside the front door|
|Bedroom / dining area

|The bedroom/dining area is open to the corridor. It contains a pull-down bed, which is stored against the wall shared with the bathroom. There is some cupboard space on either side. In the wall at the foot of the bed (which it shares with the living area) is a “media unit” which can be swivelled round.|
2.70 m x 0.66 m
|On the other side of the corridor, opposite the bedroom/dining area, is a desk and cupboards serving as a sort of study.|
|Living / kitchen area

|The living area is at the end of the flat with virtually wall-to-wall windows, and kitchen units along one wall.|
