These are penthouse flats. Type 60 is a variant on the Type 23 layout. It also provides 1 bedroom and a living room (2 rooms), but where the Type 23 is a simple rectangular-shaped unit, the Type 60 has an extra alcove in one bedroom wall - big enough for a fitted wardrobe. The flat runs from front to back of the building and so it is only found on the top floors of the north-south-facing terraces fronting the lake: 2 in Andrewes House, 4 in Defoe House, and 1 in Speed House.
