Description of Cromwell Tower

Cromwell Tower (completed in January 1973) is a triangular tower in the centre of the Barbican development, near to the Arts Centre and at the corner of Beech Street and Silk Street. It is 43 storeys high (garage level, ground level, podium level, 38 storeys of flats and 2 of penthouses). It contains 108 large flats. There are 3 very large penthouse maisonettes on a top so jagged that it looks as if a giant broke the top off an even higher tower.

There is a foyer at ground floor level with a porter at a reception desk. Next to the tower, at ground level, there is a music shop and a unit used by the Barbican Arts Centre. The flats themselves are arranged on each floor around a triangular lift lobby with 3 high speed passenger lifts.
